TYPES OF SKIN CANCER
Basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are two common types of skin cancers that can occur on any skin complexion. Although more prominent in lighter skin, these two types of skin cancer can occur in darker skin.
Melanoma is a pigmented skin cancer that has more invasive qualities and can become highly malignant if diagnosed at an advanced stage. Melanomas can occur on an existing mole or can for ‘de novo.’
Benign moles are relatively common and occur with any skin type. Thankfully, most skin lesions are simply benign (non-malignant) moles that can be diagnosed and managed easily in the office setting.
Dr. Karamanoukian is highly skilled in the management of benign and malignant moles on the skin. Once evaluated, he can provide you with a definitive treatment plan that may include laser therapy, hyfrecation, or surgery.
